How Do I Reserve a Pass
Passes can be reserved online or by phone using your library card and pin number. If you currently receive notices by email, you will immediately receive a confirmation email and a few days before the pass is to be picked up, you will receive a reminder email. Please call or visit any SCLS library to sign up for email notification. Confirmations and reminders are delivered by email only, not phone.
Is There a Charge to Reserve a Pass?
There is no charge to check out a museum pass, only your valid Somerset County Library card is needed (not expired, no fines over $10).
How Many Passes Can I Reserve a Month?
A specific museum pass can be reserved once per month per card. For example, you may only reserve the Guggenheim once per month. Up to five museum passes can be reserved in a calendar month per card.
How Far in Advance Can I Reserve a Pass?
Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance.
How Many People Are Admitted to a Museum Per Pass?
The membership conditions of each museum vary; to view these click on Reserve Pass By Museum.
What is Reciprocal Admission?
Two of our passes, the Guggenheim and the Stickley, have reciprocal admission agreements with other museums. The Guggenheim pass will admit two adults into the Brooklyn Museum. The Stickley pass will admit visitors to museums that are a part of the North American Reciprocal Member program (NARM). This extensive list, including dozens of institutions in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania is available at each SCLS library and online. We strongly urge you to call ahead to the specific museum before using the reciprocal feature for additional details or restrictions.
What is the "Day of Use"?
The "Day of Use" is the day you plan on visiting the museum. Passes may be picked up beginning at 3 p.m. the day prior to the "Day of Use" and MUST be returned by 10 a.m. the day after the "Day of Use" (i.e. if the "Day of Use" is Friday the pass can be picked up beginning at 3 p.m. on Thursday through closing on Friday and returned by 10 a.m. on Saturday.)
Can I Cancel My Reservations?
You can cancel online or by calling any SCLS library.
What If the Library is Unexpectedly Closed Due to Weather or Another Emergency?
Your reservation is valid from 3 p.m. the day before the date of use until closing on the date of use. If the library is unexpectedly closed due to weather or another emergency and you can not pick up your reservation before it expires, then unfortunately you have lost your reservation.
Where Do I Pick Up My Pass?
All passes can be picked up at the library branch from which it was requested, no earlier than 3 p.m. prior to the "Day of Use" (i.e. if the "Day of Use" is Saturday, it can be picked up beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday through closing on Saturday). If the library branch is scheduled to be closed prior to the “Day of Use”, you may pick up your pass the day before (i.e. the “Day of Use” is Monday and the library branch is closed on Sunday, you may come in on Saturday after 3 p.m. to pick up your pass). Please refer to the specific branch hours for more information.
Do I Need My Library Card to Pick Up the Pass
Yes, you will need to present the library card that you used when reserving the pass to pick it up. The library card must be in good standing (not expired, no fines over $10).
Where Do I Return My Pass?
Return all passes to the branch from which you picked up the pass by 10 a.m. after the Day of Use (i.e. if the "Day of Use" is Friday, return the pass by Saturday at 10 a.m.) If the library is scheduled to be closed that day, your pass will be due by 10 a.m. the next day the library is open. (i.e. if the “Day of Use” is Saturday and the branch is closed on Sunday, the pass would be due back on Monday by 10 a.m.). Please refer the specific branch hours for more information. Passes need to be returned on time so others who have reserved them can pick them up before making the trip to a museum. Passes may be left in the book drop. If the library branch is open at the time you are dropping off the pass, please make your best effort to return the pass inside the building. Thank you for your consideration of others who are waiting to use the pass.
What is the Late Fee or Replacement Fee?
The late fee for all passes is $5 a day. If a pass is lost or damaged, the replacement fee is $50, or the cost of the museum membership. The Grounds for Sculpture replacement fee is $300.
